JPA Scholarship Interview

After much anticipation and worries.....

JPA Interview is finally over for me~~~~

Phewwwwwww..........

Reached MBI about 1.30pm and there's already a huge crowd, mixtures of interviewees and parents waiting
And guess what, the interview sequence is actually based on first-come-first-serve basis!!
so, for those whom wants to cut down on the waiting time,
my advice for you : COME EARLY~~~

One more scene that i observed is that most Chinese girls wore baju kurung(including me ><) hpmmm, so my 2nd advice on dress code for girls is : WEAR BAJU KURUNG
-it's east to get (in my case, i just grabbed one of my mum's)
-comfortable (for me at least)
-comes in all sizes (from S to XXL)
On top of that, you don't have to worry about whether the blouse is a match for the skirt/trousers and vice verse,
or grump that you don't have a pair of decent shoes(which leads to last minute shopping and spending more)
Hah, that's a trick that only wearing baju kurung will work~~~
any high heels suits baju kurung since the skirt is always long enough to cover most of your shoes....got the trick?!
but seriously, don't go for sandals and sport shoes....

So, all of us were divided into 5 groups, since there was 5panels
I was the first batch of Panel 5
Each batch consist of 5 people

My first impression on the panel when i stepped into the interview room is : They looked so tired...really tired i mean...it just shows through their eyes...not kidding....

The interview kicked started off with a self-introduction part
most introduced themselves by just stating their names and their choice of study, later their reason for choosing that option
However, i included some other information about myself
-name
-age
-previous secondary school
-mum & dad's occupation
-siblings
-choice of study & reason
-choice of country
I believe that briefing a little more about yourself and family background will be a better self-intro
so, advice no.3 : PREPARE A SELF-INTRO SCRIPT BEFORE-HAND
then, you'll be more prepared since introduction is a must part of any interview

Then, the interviewer gave us a topic to talk on.
Our topic was : What are the basic skills of a doctor?
At first, i was kind of shocked since i didn't choose medicine as my study field...
i was wondering why did he gave us such a topic anyway....
then, it dawned upon me...
3 out of 5 of us are choosing to do medicine....
no wonder....=.=
some time was allocated for us to jolt down our points before presenting them...
when the interviewer asked whether who'll start first, i volunteered myself lar..

Later, the 2nd topic was : Co-curricular activities bring about academic excellence
And again, we have to give our opinion on that issue

So, advice no.4 : BRING AT LEAST A PENCIL AND SOME BLANK PAPERS OR A NOTEBOOK
since they won't be providing any of those

that's basically the interview. After the last discussion, a lady ended the interview by praising us for giving good answers and wished us good luck for the scholarship. how nice =P

Basically, the interview process was kind of carried out in a relax manner. Sometimes, the interviewers'll chipped in to give some opinion of theirs and requested some of us to explained more detail about our answers. I think that the interview time was kinda short too, less than 45min.

Anyway, i found out that some other panels gave some really difficult questions. like: Give your opinion on the recent issue about going for a HIV screening before getting married, brain-washed after going overseas..etc
And, i also found out that an Indian girl whom got a B for her Moral was called for the JPA interview. That means the rule of getting a minimum of A2 for moral in order to apply for the scholarship doesn't apply??

Lastly, for those who went for the interview,
Chin, Audrey, Kana, Qiyen, Lim
Good luck and all the best in securing the 'prestigious' scholarship
haha....
